Could do bright colors and go "clown hyena" for a normal/fairy type

I need a 3rd evolution for this guy, I've always loved putting it in my team until I have to swap it out for an Aron.

I just wish it had stripes to more clearly evoke the species it's based on, and wasn't called "pooch" because hyenas are much, much less related to dogs than they are to cats and mongooses.

Mightyena is one of those pokemon that needs an evolution or something to not be overshadowed. To me its overshadowed by Houndoom and it would make sense, it has a good typing and stats are better. For those that dont know both are 2 stage pokemon with houndoom evolving later than mightyena but having 80 more points in stat total, mightyena has 420 while houndoom has 500. I think mightyena need an evolution that makes it more menacing. Have to guess but stat total will be around 520-530 and could be an awesome Dark/Fighting type since theres not many of those. But i dont think this will happen any time soon so lets be happ] with what we got

Ya know.. if mightyana is a hyena, then that means poochiana is actually a kitten, not a puppy

I like Mightyena design, i know it's a hyena but looks like a stray black dog, that one who steal food on the table, barks a lot at night, destroy the trashbags but stills a good boi… But breaks me that: Mightyena is so weak… Common, 420 base total? If doesn't overlevel him, he can pass even the 4th gym, and his movepool could work on physical build, but even his attack is bad… Mightyenna need a regional form and/or a new evolution, like Linnone to Obstagoon

I’d like to see these guys recieve an evolution or regional variant in the same vein as Galatian Zigzagoon. Maybe in a future Africa region, we see a desert dwelling, Ground Type Poochyena/Mightyena, with a new evolution or something.

I hope they make a dog Pokémon that’s just a pack of 3 dogs/wolves. Make it based on Cerberus. It could make a dope regional evolution

The pooch and the mighty might be one of those lines that benefits from the 3D models in my opinion. Can’t exactly explain why, but probably the snarling animation just made it so much more believable as creature.

I kinda wish mightyena had bigger front paws with longer claws, I feel like that would’ve made it stand out a bit more instead of just “goth dog”, don’t get me wrong, I love goth dog, but it needs a bit more of a push to be more unique

Would be amazing if Mightyena could evolve one more time would love to see an stronger wolf looking pokemon or otherwise go to the Galarian Zigzagoon line which got an regional variant and an extra evolution in that line.

Back then, not every pokemon had cultural lore like that. A lot of them are just element+animal and i think this line is really just dark+hyena
The black fur to give it a black evil vibe and the markings which are an exaggeration of hyenas fur patterns, as well as the rough and wild personality to show the evill

Pokemon before gen 5 was very simple and wasnt as culturally inspired

I only just noticed the subtle face animation they gave Mightyena, like it's growling malevolently and barely holding back a bark.

Might be neat if these guys got regional variants which resembled more familiar sorts of hyena (spotted, most likely). As is, you really have to look at pictures of brown hyenas and their cubs next to these pokémon for it to really register they're hyenas, otherwise they just look like canines. It'd be pretty cool to have a pokémon that looked hyena-like at first glance, though I guess it doesn't have to be directly related to these guys.

Poochy in Emerald was my first shiny so they have a special place in my heart

When looking at the mightyenna snout it looks like its a hair away from mauling something

Two regional forms I've wanted for years now:
– Dark/Fairy Mightyena
– Dragon/Steel Haxorus

I get angry every time this mon slips into my consciousness cuz its a cool doggo and yet its unable to surpass the other dogs or at least have its own niche
