Skarmory did not do well in the transition to 3D || Pokémon Review

I love skarmory due to childhood bias, and it’s my favorite Pokémon but honestly while I do like the design it does feel clunky in some regards and that mostly stems from the fact that the 3-D sprite misinterprets what it is. Throughout this short you talk about how the design is meant to be a sleek and fast bird, and the Pokédex even points this out… even though it isn’t. Skarmory is a slow tank that’s meant to take hits, and that’s why skarmory looks it’s best when it’s on not flying because instead of looking like a fat chicken who’s gliding through the air with really odd segmented wings, it instead looks like an imposing animal that’s using its hulking body to stand its ground, and it’s red blade like wings to intimidate its enemy, and this is is shown in the stadium games as in those where it stands on the ground and only brings out its wings to attack, or in the gamboy and ds games where it looks like its flashing its wings to intimidate an opponent. Now now that being said this isn’t me trying to say “your wrong, Skarmory’s design is amazing” it’s not, even without the whole weird losing that the new 3-d games the design still has esp me awkward points to it, the wings being segmented and disjointed it kind of weird, the fin on the top of its head feels like it was added on to make the feels like it was added on to just make the design feel sharper even though it’s completely rounded, my entire argument previously was that this flying type pokemon doesn’t look like it was designed to fly which I think speaks for itself, and to address the elephant in the room Corviknight pulls off the look of an armored bird way better, by making it look like it’s wearing a cohesive suit of armor while still making said armor look enough like feathers. Now with all that being said you may be wondering wtf is the point of this comment if I think the design is clunky and there’s an objectively better version of it in the same series, and to that I have three things reasons. One, I spent the last like 8 of these shorts counting down to this damn thing I personally think it would be weird if I didn’t post anything. Two this is my all time favorite Pokémon and I few the need to justify its design to feel validated. Three I just in general wanted to give my own two cents or judging by the length of this comment my own three dollars on why the 3-D model sucks, with my point being that it isn’t really the design itself that makes it look stupid but rather when posing the Pokémon, they tried to put it in a mold that it didn’t fit into. Honestly, the 3D transition is the thing I hate the most from current pokemon. I wish we had them go back to 2D sprites and having a style similar to octopath traveler.

I have no Idea where you get the fast from, but I guess I agree whit the rest. Sky Battles where a mistake.

I feel like Skarmory was supposed to look a lot like what Valstrax in Monster Hunter ended up being. Sleek, fast, dangerous, majestic. All of those would befit Valstrax but Skarmory, a pokemon with basically the same general idea, just like 2 decades earlier, couldn‘t quite make that jump.

Though mostly a dream, I would be hyped to see a dragon/steel type variation of it that goes more into how it‘s supposed to look.

Skarmory is absolutely a Stymphalian bird.

Skarmory needs a prevo and an evo if you ask me, and needs to be given some character in its animations; but it'll be a cold day in hell when Game Freak gets off their asses and actually does something productive.

I think they could've given it a better pose, probably one where it's not flying.

The 3D model always looked weirdly fat to me, like the body is just to big and bulky (like mine).

In my opinion, it CAN work in 3d. I LOVED its animations in coliseum and xd. It was always snapping at the air like it was chomping at the bit to battle. It was a cool vibe. Gen 6 sky battles were a curse for so many pokemon. Fingers crossed skarmory gets a touch up like charizard did if it makes it in to scarlet and violet

Skarmory to me, like a lot of Gen 2, I feel was actually better realized in the Stadium and Colosseum games (hot take I’m sure). It just looks so jittery and animalistic that I feel it looks a lot more like how the creature would feel in a setting.

The sprites for the newest games lose something for sure. Poor guy.

I've never heard someone make so many incorrect statements in a row. 3D has done Skarmory just fine, honestly. And you showed the most horrendous sprite Skarmory has and praised it somehow, like that's what we should go back to in some sense? Hard pass on literally everything this video said.
